Lady Lions lose pair of matches at SUNY Delhi

Delhi, NY - The Lady Lions traveled to upstate New York on Saturday for a pair of matches at host school SUNY Delhi. Hazleton squared off against Broome Community College in game one. Plagued by errors on their side of the court, the Lions fell in straight sets to the Hornets, 3-0. In game two, Hazleton faced the home team Broncos, but again failed to gain any momentum on offense, losing 3-0 to SUNY Delhi.

Game 1: Broome Community College 3, Penn State Hazleton 0

Broome Community College won the first match against the Lions in convincing fashion, dropping Hazleton by scores of 25-6, 25-9, and 25-11. Hazleton struggled to receive the opponents dominant service game, earning just five total kills in the game, with Miranda Dunne leading the Hazleton offense, scoring two kills and a pair of assists.

Game 2: SUNY Delhi 3, Penn State Hazleton 0

 The Lions were outplayed again in game two, losing to the Broncos by scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-8. The Broncos outhit Hazleton by a margin of 33 kills to just four for the Lions, being led by Kaylee Meehan with 11 kills and 13 service aces. Joy Clark distributed the ball efficiently for the Broncos, picking up 19 assists in three sets. Cheyenne Comfort scored two kills to lead the Lady Lion offense.

Next Up: The Lady Lions continue their early stretch of non-conference matchups on the road next week when Hazleton travels to King's College. The Lions will face off with the Monarchs on Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00 PM in McGrane Gymnasium.
