Dr. Syd Rudman

Men's Basketball (1946-51)
Following World War II, Syd Rudman was hired as the head basketball coach and athletic director at the Hazleton Campus. Prior to his arrival, Hazleton Campus basketball teams suffered through 10 seasons with a combined record of 40 wins and 75 losses.
Rudman led the HUCsters to a 12-10 record in 1946-47 and followed with a 16-2 record in 1947-48 in route to the campus’ only state basketball championship. In five seasons, Coach Rudman compiled a 58-36 which included the PJCAA title and two second place finishes in the conference.
Following the 1950-51 season, Rudman resigned his position at the campus to accept a job as recreation director with the US Army in Germany.
Syd received his undergraduate degree from Penn State and completed his doctorate from Memphis State University in Phycology and Administration.
