Paul DeAngelo
Men's Basketball (1978-79)
Although he was at the campus for one season, DeAngelo left an indelible mark on the Penn State Hazleton basketball program.
DeAngelo set six scoring records in the 1978-79 season. They include most points in a game, 50 in a 106-91 victory over PSU Scranton and most free throws made in a game, 18.
His other records include most points in a season, 541; most free throws made in a season, 83; best free throw percentage in a season, 82.2 percent; and most field goals in a season, 229.
The first player to score more than 500 points in a season, DeAngelo led the Condors to a 16-7 record, a 75-74 upset of nationally-ranked Keystone Junior College and the championship in the first Highacres Holiday Classic. DeAngelo currently ranks on the single season scoring list with 541 points.
He helped establish the Condors as one of the top teams in the CCAC and was an All-CCAC selection. DeAngelo is a graduate of Freeland High School.
