Bio

Ryan Ehrie joined Penn State Hazleton as the director of athletics, intramurals and recreation in September 2014. Ehrie will be responsible for leading a dynamic athletics, recreation and intramural program. This will include the management of personnel, operations, recreational facilities and the recruitment of new scholar athletes.

Ehrie joined the athletics deparment staff after a two year stint with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association as the director of championships. Prior to his time with the USCAA, Ehrie served as the assistant athletic director and assistant baseball coach at Penn State Fayette from 2009-2012.

At the USCAA, Ehrie expanded the opportunities in several sports, increasing participation in the men’s soccer, women’s soccer and softball championships and was integral in creating partnerships with business and community groups for the USCAA’s Basketball National Championships week. He also oversaw the championships sub-committee and designated and created the first sports committees for all USCAA Championship sports. He also managed the All-American selection process.

While at Penn State Fayette, Ehrie served as the advisor of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board and oversaw game day operations for the athletic department. He also developed a popular intramural program that had previously been dormant for several years. Ehrie also produced content for the athletics website and handled media relations at Fayette.

A native of Montrose, Pa. Ehrie earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Penn State and a master’s degree in sport studies with an emphasis in sport management from the University of Tennessee.
